About the Melio Health COVID-19 Swab Testing service 

What does the service involve?  

The Melio Health COVID-19 Swab Testing Service (RT-PCR) is a test used to detect a current COVID-19 infection. It involves taking a swab from the inside of your nose and the back of your throat. 

You might want to do a swab test for several reasons, for example needing a Fit-to-Fly certificate for travelling abroad, or a test for work.  

This is not a Test to Release for International Travel. Follow this link for alternative providers of this service.

Superdrug Nurse Clinics are offering the sample service to Melio Health customers. Melio Health will take your order online by registering your details and taking payment for the service. They will then help you to book into a convenient test site.  

Once you have been for the test and it has been analysed you will be informed of your results through the Melio Health user portal.

What will happen? 

In clinic the nurse will collect a nose and throat swab this can be slightly uncomfortable. 

The samples will be sent to the accredited lab for testing. Your results will be delivered directly to your personal Melio account, normally in about 3 business days after taking the test. If you have a negative result your certificate will be available to download from your Melio account. 

This service is not suitable for anyone with COVID-19 symptoms, or that has been in contact with or living with someone suspected of having COVID-19. Please stay at home and follow latest guidance on how to test and isolate.

Do I need ID? 

You will need to bring official photo ID to the appointment e.g. Driver’s Licence or Passport. You will be asked to remove your mask to have your identification checked. We will be unable to proceed with the test if you do not provide identification. 


When shall I book my appointment? 

If you are taking the test to get a certificate, please check the local requirements. For a Fit-to-Fly it is your responsibility to ensure this test is taken within the correct timeframe and is the correct test for your destination. Please check before booking. 

Results will usually be available next day if booked before 3pm Monday to Friday.  Appointments booked outside of these times may results in failed test.

Following government guidelines please only book an appointment for a service if your travel is deem essential.

This service is not suitable for anyone with symptoms of COVID-19, if you have symptoms please stay at home and follow local advice.

Patients must be 5 years of age and over; minors must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. If the child is 12 years or older, consent must be gained from the child themselves. For children under the age of 12, parental or legal guardian consent is permitted.

Patients must bring their passport, current UK, or EEA photocard driving licence, EEA member state identity card or a national identity card bearing a photograph. Please note that only originals can be accepted for verification purposes.

We cannot guarantee results will be received with 3 working days

When using this services for travel purposes, you must check the requirements of your destination before booking
