Corporate Occupational Health Vaccinations – Hepatitis B
The occupational health vaccination service is available through our Corporate Healthcare Services at Superdrug to help you and your employees, stay safe at work.
What is Hepatitis B?
Hepatitis B is a viral infection which can cause damage to the liver, and it spreads from person to person via bodily fluids such as blood and semen.
If infected with Hepatitis B and left untreated it could eventually develop into chronic Hepatitis B, leading to life-threatening problems such as liver failure and liver cancer.
Hepatitis B does not cause immediate symptoms in adults, and it could take 2-3 months after exposure for the virus to develop into symptoms.
Typical symptoms include:
- Flu-like symptoms
- Vomiting or feeling sick
- Loss of appetite
- Yellowing of the skin
- Joint pain
- Stomach pain
About the Occupational Health Hepatitis B Vaccination
Employees with occupations that involve contact with blood or bodily fluids are at the highest risk of being exposed to Hepatitis B. These may include, but is not limited to: health care workers, care home workers, prison or police staff, medical waste disposal staff, sewage workers, firefighters, and cleaners in medical environments.
If you work in a high-risk occupation, then you should consider the Hepatitis B vaccination service for yourself or your staff.
The vaccination consists of 3-4 doses, administered via injection into the upper arm at separate intervals. The clinic nurse or pharmacist, will be able to advise on which course is best for you.
Side effects of the Hepatitis B Vaccination
As with most vaccinations, there are possible side effects which can occur after the injection that may include:
- Pain, swelling, and redness at the injection site
- Fatigue
- A mild fever
- Feeling or being sick
- Diarrhoea

- For in-store vaccinations, where a corporate account is set up, vaccinations will only be provided following a thorough risk assessment and presentation of valid ID.
On-site vaccinations
- On-site vaccinations will incur a deployment fee based on the number of vaccinations requested
- Payments for on-site vaccinations are based on the number of vaccinations requested and not what is delivered on the day
