Why would you benefit from a Testosterone test?
The hormone, Testosterone, plays an important role for both men and women
Men:
Testosterone is a male sex hormone that is produced by the testicles. It is important for sexual and reproductive development and controls the development of male physical features.
Women:
Testosterone is thought of as “the male hormone”, but it plays an important role in
women. In women, the ovaries and adrenal glands produce testosterone. Women’s total testosterone levels are about a tenth to a twentieth of men’s levels. Testosterone levels vary during the normal menstrual cycle.
For this test you will need to fast, not eat or drink other than water for 8 hours before your appointment. This test should be taken as early as possible in the day, ideally before 11am.
