The Advanced Male Hormone Panel measures total and free testosterone, which can influence energy levels, mood, libido, muscle mass and fertility.
It also measures luteinising hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH). These hormones regulate testosterone production in the testes and support sperm production. Looking at these markers together can help indicate whether reduced testosterone may be related to the testes themselves (primary causes) or to signalling from the brain and pituitary gland (secondary causes).
The panel also includes prolactin. Raised prolactin can sometimes suppress testosterone production and affect libido, sexual function and fertility.
Together, these markers provide a more detailed overview of male reproductive hormone health than measuring testosterone alone.
For this test you will need to fast, not eat or drink other than water for 8 hours before your appointment. This test should be taken as early as possible in the day, ideally before 11am.
